ANTONIO DE ULLOA
Named after the 18th-century Spanish navigator and scientist Antonio de Ulloa (pronounced oo-yo-ah), the name honors a remarkable explorer driven by curiosity and discovery.
During his voyages across the Mediterranean, South America, and the Caribbean, Ulloa documented new landscapes, cultures, and natural phenomena. His work reflected a deep spirit of exploration, a desire to observe, understand, and share the wonders of the world he encountered.
ULLOA’S RINGS
During one of his journeys, Antonio de Ulloa described a rare optical phenomenon known as a fogbow, a circular rainbow that appears when sunlight meets mist. When a person stands between the sun and the fog, their silhouette appears within the glowing ring of light. This remarkable natural wonder later became known as Ulloa’s Rings.
Like the phenomenon itself, Ulloa’s Kitchen + Bar is layered, vibrant, and immersive, blending familiar comforts with bold, worldly flavors in a welcoming neighborhood setting inspired by exploration and discovery.
